Grand Master's Cruise 2006
Introduction
Most every year, the Grand Master (of California) schedules a trip of some sort, very often a cruise/sightseeing tour.
2006 was no different. Since the Grand Master for 2006 comes from my own home lodge (Placerville #26), and I am the
Inspector in this District, I just couldn't pass up this opportunity to join the Grand Master on his cruise this year.
There was a total of 42 people from California, and our Boston based Tour Director.
The trip consisted of a flight to Boston, then 2 days of sightseeing in and around Boston, then a 7 day cruise aboard
the Holland-America Line ship M.S. Maasdam from Boston north along the coast of Canada and through the St. Lawrence
seaway down at last to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and then our flight home from Montreal.
Since I have a lot of pictures, I will post each major portion of the trip on a different page to make it easier for
people with a slow internet connection so they only have to download a few of the pictures at once.
Here you can see our route on the actual cruise portion. We made the following ports of call:
- Saturday (embarkation) - Boston
- Sunday - Bar Harbor, Maine
- Monday - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
- Tuesday - Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
- Wednesday - Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
- Friday - Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
- Saturday - Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The St. Lawrence Seaway
The trip between Charlottetown and Quebec City took 2 full days, and the ship didn't stop during this time. There
were some spectacular sights even along this part of the cruise.

Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
Quebec City was the final port of call where we got to spend any time seeing the area.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
We went straight from the Maasdam to the airport, so there isn't much of a story to tell for Montreal. However, just
a day or two before we flew home, there had been a significant arrest of terrorists in London, England at Heathrow
Airport, so airport security all across the US and Canada was extremely tight when we all went through Screening.
No shampoo, lotions, cosmetics or even bottled water!! Oh joy...
